An important milestone for Weci | Koninut
Weci | Koninut have won SILVER at the prestigious NY Architectural Design Awards, in the category Urban Design and Planning – Public Art and Cultural Initiatives in Urban Design.
The artwork stood out to an international jury among over 2,000 submissions worldwide! The award highlights both the quality of the design and the installation’s impact on the public space.
“We are deeply moved by this recognition. Weci | Koninut was built through dialogue and collaboration. For us, it also represents an important evolution in our practice, exploring an interactive approach designed to carry our stories, our dreams, and our spirituality across places. Seeing how it resonates within different environments and communities is a great source of pride that we share with the entire team.“
– Dave Jenniss and Julie-Christina Picher – Co-creators
“This recognition confirms what we observe on the ground: when installations are thoughtfully designed to integrate their environment, they become powerful tools to activate spaces and create shared experiences.”
Alexandre Lemieux – Business Development Director & Co-founder, Creos
A continuity of excellence
This recognition is part of an ongoing trajectory for installations deployed by Creos. In the previous edition, Horizon and e/motion were awarded GOLD at the NY Architectural Design Awards. A consistency that reflects a proven approach and a simple belief: well-designed experiences can have a lasting impact on how places are lived and experienced.
A project shaped by strong collaboration
This project is, above all, the result of a collective effort. We wish to highlight the contribution of the artists and collaborators who imagined and brought this installation to life: Julie-Christina Picher, Dave Jenniss, Étienne Thibault, Eruoma Awashish, and Serge Maheu, along with the teams at Init et d’Industries Maca-Fab inc, whose vision and expertise shaped every stage of the project.
A special thank you as well to our partner, Houston First Corporation, for their trust and collaboration. And to our presenting partners, your commitment helps bring interactive art to life in your communities and supports experiences that activate public spaces and bring people together.
