Outdoor Scenography Consultant – Interactive Water Wall – Square Viger
As part of the major revitalization of Square Viger, Creos was commissioned to assess the technical feasibility and establish the budget framework for transforming the site’s iconic water wall into a permanent interactive digital installation, while ensuring its long-term durability under extreme weather conditions.
Key Project Components
- Climate-resilient technical design: Development of a technical approach adapted to extreme conditions, ranging from -40°C to +40°C and winds of up to 100 km/h.
- Automated operations: Planning of a climate-controlled technical control room and a highly automated system designed to minimize the need for daily human intervention.
- Long-term reliability: Recommendations favouring a certified “low-tech” approach to ensure a 10-year service life.
Following the technical and budget feasibility assessment, Creos recommended that the City not proceed with the proposed investment. This analysis enabled the City of Montréal to validate the risks associated with the project’s significant technical constraints and redirect its resources toward initiatives offering greater value.
