Weci | Koninut Receives a Merit Award at the 2026 CODAawards
After earning a spot in the 2026 CODAawards Top 100, Weci | Koninut has received a Merit Award in the Experiential Art category.
Presented by CODAworx, the CODAawards celebrate excellence in public art and the creative collaborations that bring artworks to life in public and private spaces.
This new recognition highlights qualities that are at the heart of Weci | Koninut: its integration into public space, the experience and impact it creates for audiences, the strength of its artistic vision, and the collaborative process behind it.
An artwork that creates connections.
Created by Dave Jenniss and Julie-Christina Picher, Weci | Koninut draws on Atikamekw culture to create an experience where stories, seasonal knowledge, and traditional symbols invite visitors to slow down, discover, and connect with a living culture.
Since its first presentations, the installation has travelled to different places and communities. Each new presentation allows the work to come to life in a different context and gives new audiences the opportunity to experience it.
A recognition made possible by collective effort
This recognition also reflects a deeply collaborative effort. From the creators’ vision to the production and implementation of the installation, Weci | Koninut is brought to life through the expertise, care, and commitment of an entire team.
We also want to recognize the essential role of the presenters who choose to host the work. By opening their spaces and communities to it, they allow Weci | Koninut to continue its journey, reach new audiences, and create new experiences in public space.
Congratulations to all the teams and projects recognized at the 2026 CODAawards, and thank you to CODAworx and the jury for this distinction.
