Member of technical committee

The creation of a suspended, permanent and seasonal public artwork for Place Émilie-Gamelin follows a series of recent actions to transform this location into an emblematic and popular public space, encouraging people to visit and use it throughout the summer. The work will be presented for the first time from May to October of 2017, and will float above the temporary urban agriculture installation at the Jardins Gamelin. With this competition, the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership invites creators from all backgrounds, whether they are professional artists, designers, architects, multimedia designers or performing artists, to submit their proposals. When the competition is complete, the winner will be tasked with designing and producing their public artwork, which will then be suspended over Place Émilie-Gamelin.

The technical committee’s role is to conduct an analysis of the principal technical elements of the finalists’ proposals. In particular, it evaluates :

  • cost estimates for each project relative to the projected budget;
  • the technical feasibility of the project;
  • the project’s feasibility with regard to existing regulations;
  • and maintenance and durability of the elements included in the project.
